i will understand …
i will understand if he wins best director again for avatar, but i dont think it deserves best picture. it was an entertaining movie, but a best picture movie should be more than just visually good.

@DaseyObsessed And the basis for your opinion? Surely not in the story or character departments… while Avatar wasn’t original in the slightest neither was Titanic. You speak as if Titanic was on par with Shawshank or something.

Pff I’ve never watched Titanic. Avatar is a great movie, one of the best I’ve ever seen especially the 3D effects were awesome.

To counter kanov – the motion sensor technology that Cameron helped to develop for Avatar is actually not the same as what was used for Gollum. It’s based off of it, sure, but Cameron developed it to better capture what the actors were doing (i.e. by creating a camera boom that would record every nuance of the actors’ facial expressions so that they would look as real as they possibly could).

Cameron puts out some truely horrible mind numbing movies but I guess that is what the American people like. Soft generic stuff without and meaning. Aliens and Terminator were good though.

I think Titanic …
I think Titanic will and still is a winner to me, Titanic is very special to me especially the ship itself I love Titanic, i mean Titanic was a real event it still touches my soul. I don’t want anyone to forget Titanic, it’s been over 97 years since she sank, and it’ll be her 100th anniversary in 2012 i can’t believe people think Avatar is better than Titanic, i don’t want to see Avatar to be honest..

The motion capture …
The motion capture software they developed is completely different. They created “real time” renders, a new state-of-the-art virtual camera. And most important of all: recording the actor’s performance all at once, rather than capturing the face, voice, and actions all independently… but I guess you have no idea either.
