akebefrontiere – totally agree and good comments. both zidane and cantona retired at their peak when they knew their bodies could take no more unlike most other pros who carry on until their mid to late 30s….very refreshing. cantona is my all time favourite – an absolute legend!.

I was a fan of football in general and didn’t really have any favourite team until the day I saw Cantona on the telly. He was with Leeds at the time and then he made the move that not only changed Manchester United, but changed me forever…

I think Cantona was the greatest signing Sir Alex ever made and he truly did change Manchester United. Wonderful skill with the chips.

I regard him and …
I regard him and zidane the real role models no matter what they did but both could have carried on but decided to let others do what their bodies couldn’t do aswell even though they were still good enough.
Go and tell that to raul gonzalez and guti who seem to be on a mission to take real madrid down to the drain with them, raul and guti know they can’t hack it anymore but seem to want to retire or at least accept to be on the bench.
