The Jacksons – This Place Hotel

April 20, 2010 - 10:34 pm 25 Comments

This song is on the Triumph Album and it is a hit. He had a lot of songs on there that really good. You can’t find nothing like this anymore. This song is really good, has that rhythm and its so catchy you couldn’t help but dance. I hope enjoy my video :)

Live and sin
Ten years ago on this day my heart was yearning
I promised I would never, ever be returning
Where my baby broke my heart and left me yearning

As we walked into the room
There were faces staring, glaring, tearing through me
Someone said “Welcome to your doom”
Then they smiled with eyes that looked as if they knew me
This is scaring me

We walked up the stairs still concealing gloom
There were two girls sitting in my room
She walked up to my face
And said “This is the place”
You said “Meet you right here at noon”

This is (Heartbreak hotel)
Welcome to (Heartbreak hotel)
So this is (Heartbreak hotel)
This place is(Heartbreak hotel)

Hope is dead
She thought that I had cheated for another lover
I turn my back to see that I am undercover
Now I can’t convince this girl there ain’t no other

Someone’s evil to hurt my soul
Every smile’s a trial thought in beguile to hurt me
This is scaring me
Then the man next door had told
She’s been here in tears for fifteen years
This is scaring me

We came to this place where the vicious dwell
And found that wicked women run this strange hotel
There was Sefra and Sue
Every girl that I knew
And my baby said love is through

This is (Heartbreak hotel)
Welcome to (Heartbreak hotel)
So evil (Heartbreak hotel)
This place is (Heartbreak hotel)
Someone’s takin’ my heart (Heartbreak hotel)
This is heartbreak hotel (Heartbreak hotel)
Ten years ago today (Heartbreak hotel)
This is heartbreak hotel (Heartbreak hotel)
Someone’s takin’ my heart (Heartbreak hotel)
This is heartbreak hotel (Heartbreak hotel)
Ten years ago today (Heartbreak hotel)
Hurtin’ my heart (Heartbreak hotel)
You break my baby’s heart (Heartbreak hotel)
This is heartbreak hotel (Heartbreak hotel)
Just what you do to me

The Victory Tour was the biggest and final concert tour of the United States and Canada in 1984 by The Jacksons. Beginning July 6 and ending on December 9, the tour included 55 concerts to an audience of approximately 2 million. It was named after the newly released Jacksons’ album Victory although none of the album’s songs appear on the tour’s set list (Marlon confirmed it was because Michael refused to rehearse or perform them). The tour reportedly grossed $175 million and set a new record for the then-largest grossing tour.

Following a controversy with the way tickets were purchased, lead-singer Michael Jackson donated his proceeds (approx. $5 million) from the tour to three charities, including the T.J. Martell Foundation for Leukemia and Cancer Research, The United Negro College Fund, and the Ronald McDonald Camp for Good Times.

The Jacksons – Heartbreak Hotel (enhanced audio)

October 4, 2009 - 6:12 am 25 Comments

Written by Michael, the song would precede Jackson’s own hit, “Billie Jean,” in its insecurity-plagued tale of confusion. While his brothers didn’t sing background vocals, they were credited with playing percussion on the album while brother Tito contributed a guitar solo.

The song reached number twenty-two on the Billboard pop singles chart and number two on the R&B singles chart when it was released and became the group’s second biggest single off their Triumph album. The song, in turn, became a popular concert performance for the group’s next two tours right into Michael’s own “Bad” tour.

The song, like the aforementioned “Can You Feel It,” has become one of the oft-sampled songs in hip-hop.

The song’s title was changed because of the 1956 Elvis Presley hit, “Heartbreak Hotel.” In his autobiography, Michael Jackson reveals that he was not a fan of Presley, and it did not enter his mind.

The song was performed on the Jacksons’ Triumph Tour (thus appears on the Jacksons’ subsequent live album) and was subsequently used on the Jacksons’ Victory Tour. When Michael Jackson first toured as a solo act, “This Place Hotel” was the only Jacksons song to be used in both legs of the Bad World Tour whereas the other songs by the group (with the exception of a medley of early Jackson 5 hits) were retired during the second leg. A spoken word recording preceded the song on the first leg of Bad tour, but for the second leg of the tour and the subsequent Dangerous World Tour the recording was used as an intro to Jackson’s hit, “Smooth Criminal.”
