if Hawaii is the land of ALOHA, why so much hatred towards tourists? especially white people?

It is like this in most tourist destinations. The local people need the tourists for their economy, but the tourists do not add anything to their culture and society and thus generate resentment.

Because too many go there and pollute their paradise. They do not respect the culture. The people who named it the land of ALOHA did so to make money.

the poverty most of them live in could have something to do with it if you are talking ‘off’ the resorts areas.

It might be that you experienced an event where hatred was expressed only to you, but not the masses. It sounds like your story is not a simple one to tell, and may evoke many ways that others will look at it.

prob has something to do with the imperialistic nature of the Americans and whites who first landed in Hawaii. not only did we conquer them, and totally disregard their culture, but we also brought disease and "religion" to them. No wonder they think we suck. Not to mention tourists totally paddle for waves that the locals feel they are entitled to.

LOL. Only in Honolulu and only off the hotel strip.
Notice how nice the hotel workers are to you on Waikiki Beach hotels. Once you step off the property one block off onto Kalakaua Ave. all the local Asians give you the cold shoulder treatment.
Everwhere else on Oahu, Maui or Kauai for that matter – ALL the natives are very nice – just show them a little genuine respect and a friendly ALOHA will go along way !!!
I know what you are talking about though, it is the young Asian population, not the natives in Honolulu that is the problem !!!

I have been there six times (Honolulu), and have never been treated without respect!!
People will give respect when they are respected! I have made many many friends while I visited there.
If it not were for the tourists, Waikiki area (shows, shops, etc) Honolulu, all over the islands, the Hawaiian Islands would be just another place on the map!!
Aloha means all things to all people!! Live Aloha!
