Help! I need to find a high-collared "elvis neckline" wedding dress!?

Here is an image of the style neckline:

But I would prefer to have a different style/fabric gown and jacket. I would love a long gown, sorta poofy, elegant design and long tail. I do want a high-collared jacket to fit over it though. Maybe even a two-piece? I don’t know. I’m willing to see any suggestions or advice, but the gown has to have a high "elvis" collar. Thanks!

I looked on eBay, where I can usually find anything, but there were no wedding gowns in their thousands of listings that contained the words "Elvis collar"…. is it called anything else?

Character Archetypes in the Mists of Avalon?

February 25, 2010 - 11:32 pm 5 Comments

I’m looking for character Archetypes in the Mists of Avalon, particularly in the third book, the King Stag. It’s for a essay assignment and I’m really have a hard time finding any, besides Arthur. Thanks!

I graduated from Arcadia and this post is for giggles because if I survived 3.5 years of honours English, then you can too! (Dropped second semester sophomore Cordero but tested right back in for AP junior year when I found that 90% of kids in normal English are complete dunderheads.)

Shouldn’t be that hard to find archetypes in Mists (<3′d that book!), since many modern archetypes are based off medieval characters like these. Witch, knight, hero, trickster? Recommendation: Make a list of the main characters and what their actions make YOU think of. You don’t have to categorise them as by-the-book archetypes yet; just get a feel of the sort of people they are. Can’t help you much with details here, since I read the book three years ago.

Hypocritical of me to say, but don’t procrastinate! Things are more fun if you get them done on time!

I heard that there is someone in Hawaii that will buy souvenirs for you and ship them, is this true?

I recently came back from Hawaii and would like to know if I could buy some things from places that do not have websites, like from the Aloha Stadium swap meet.

What are you looking for? I have been searching for the Hawaiian coconut pancake syrup & found it on ebay but the shipping is so bad that I might as well ‘Travelzoo.com’ a cheap last minute air ticket & stay at the hostel on Waikiki Beach & bring some more back with me. I know – very over-run sentence.

Greater Pop Culture Icon Elvis or Michael Jackson?

February 23, 2010 - 10:14 pm 1 Comment

I am doing a project on this any info.

I have already gatherd that Elvis had set fashion trends, could very well be the highest selling artist of all time, mad the first ever music video, the most photographed celebrity to ever live and the phenomenon after his death including cartoon characters in his image, movies alleged sightings, postal stamps, his home being massivly toured and various conspiracy theories surrounding his death

Michael Jackson on the other hand was a child star, who was known for his unique dance moves, videos, controversy, the MTV era, plastic surgeries, the moon walk and the all time highest selling album Thriller.

What do you think

Don’t forget about Elvis impersonators, and Elvis was also known for his dancing: Television wouldn’t even show him below the waste since it was considered indecent at the time (imagine that!).
Also, Elvis was still very actively performing until his death, while Michael was pretty much a creepy recluse for the last years of his increasingly scandal ridden life.
Personally, I didn’t much care for either of these artists, but Elvis made sense in that he was such a departure from the big band tradition that preceded him. Michael really wasn’t such a revolutionary, just a unique innovator. It’s really hard for me to pick out what was so unique about him that he should have enjoyed such success.

Tell me does it feel like you live more at heartbreak hotel or at hotel happiness?

What are some themes of Graceland, by Chris Abani?

February 23, 2010 - 10:14 pm 1 Comment

What are….

1. Themes,
2. literary tools and devices used in the book
3. symbolism
4. style

this is the best i can find for you

Abani’s debut novel offers a searing chronicle of a young man’s coming of age in Nigeria during the late 1970s and early 1980s. The vulnerable, wide-eyed protagonist is Elvis Oke, a young Nigerian with a penchant for dancing and impersonating the American rock-and-roll singer he is named after. The story alternates between Elvis’s early years in the 1970s, when his mother dies of cancer and leaves him with a disapproving father, and his life as a teenager in the Lago ghetto, a place one character calls "a pus-ridden eyesore on de face of de nation’s capital." Relating how an innocent child grows into a hardened young man, the novel also gives a glimpse into a world foreign to most readers-a brutal Third World country permeated by the excesses and wonders of American popular culture. Sprinkled throughout the book are recipes and entries from Elvis’s mother’s journal, as well as descriptions of the kola nut ceremony through which an Igbo boy becomes a man. These sections at first seem showy and tacked on, but by the end of the book their significance becomes clearer. The book is most powerful when it refrains from polemic and didacticism and simply follows its protagonist on his daily journey through the violent, harsh Nigerian landscape. Elvis must also negotiate troubles closer to home, including a drunk and ruined father and friends who cannot always be trusted. In this book, names are destiny, "selected with care by your family and given to you as a talisman." One of Elvis’s friends is named Redemption, but in the end it is Elvis who claims this moniker, both literally and symbolically
